The mission of the Center for Teaching & Learning Technology is to provide leadership and support for the faculty and staff of Illinois State University and other institutions of higher education in the area as they pursue innovation and excellence in teaching, learning, and technology. One of the many ways in which CTLT supports faculty on our campus is by provided assistance with integrating civic engagement into course curriculum.
The Honors Program helps students hone in on their leadership and communication skills by offering opportunities for them to get involved outside of the classroom as well.
The mission of Leadership and Service is to develop engaged, compassionate leaders committed to action, service, and social change in the global community. Leadership and Service, a unit of the Dean of Students Office, provides fun and meaningful opportunities for students. Through events/programs, services, trips, and volunteering students learn about themselves, how to work with others, and how to make a difference in their community.
At Illinois State, we have defined SoTL as "systematic reflection on teaching and learning made public." In the Fall of 2012, SoTL helped produce a video that presents case studies and student reflection on civic engagement!
