Political Engagement Project

Welcome to the Political Engagement Project (PEP) page! We are delighted that you have chosen to visit this link. The information on this page is primarily for students, faculty and staff interested in developing political engagement skills.

This page contains important information about ISU’s role as one of only eight institutions chosen by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching to address political disengagement by college students. We are passionate about PEP because today’s young people are becoming more politically engaged than previous generations.

To find out what we are planning, please take a look at our goals:

  • Expand and update a curricular plan with student learning outcomes that will demonstrate increased student awareness of, and engagement in, political systems and processes past the first year.
  • Create and strengthen partnerships leading to more coordination between curricular and co-curricular activities to enhance political activism by students, faculty and staff.
  • Encourage political activism in undergraduate students that leads to an increase in political leadership and participation on and off campus.
  • Develop students' understanding of political and social engagement as a life-long responsibility of all citizens.
  • Create and strengthen partnerships with other educational institutions and community leading to activities that enhance political activism by students, faculty and staff.

We hope that the information provided on this page will answer any questions/concerns you may have. However, in the event that you would like to discuss PEP further, you are encouraged to contact us using the information provided. Thanks again for visiting this page!!!
